1) Take a tour of campus, and spend a lot of time just walking around by yourself. By the end of the year, you'll know the important locations as well as anyone.
2) Read over Hillel Guide questions of how you should spend your first 30 days.
3) Read parts of the JCSC yearbooks either online, or in the hardcopy notebooks.
4) Learn all the basics at the office such as how to work your computer, the alarm, knowing where the lights are, and familiarizing yourself with the kitchen.
5) Spend quality time with your Coach figuring out the best game plan for how you will be spending your time as JCSC.
6) I would think about some program ideas that you want to implement before you go off to the Leadership Assembly. I didn't do this and I wish I had, because everything was hectic once I got back, and the high holidays came up really fast. Hopefully for you, the holidays won't be as early as they were this year.
7) Try not to get too bored the first few weeks, because once the students arrive, everything will change, and the job will become extremely exciting.
8) Smile all the time!
9) Meet many of the staff members who work at Tulane, and find out how they can be helpful to you.
10) Make sure that your Coach tells you the important people to get to know.
11) Try to stay out of the hot August sun, and have fun!
